Start early.

The difference is enormous.

Whether you are in your first job or a few years in, the financial decisions you make now compound over decades. Aetas Wealth helps young professionals get those decisions right from the start, in plain English, with no jargon and no pressure.

Time is the most powerful financial asset you have.

Most financial conversations for young people focus on what you cannot afford yet. This one starts somewhere different: with what starting early actually means in numbers.

If two people both contribute £200 a month into a pension, earning the same average return, but one starts at 22 and the other at 32, the early starter retires with roughly twice the pot. Not 10% more. Roughly double. That is the difference a single decade makes.

Start ageMonthly contributionPot at 67*
22£200~£370,000
27£200~£260,000
32£200~£182,000
37£200~£125,000

The point is not to alarm you. It is to show that the best time to start is always now, and that even modest contributions made early produce results that larger contributions made later cannot easily replicate.

Where we focus for young professionals.

The areas that matter most at the start of your financial life.

Your workplace pension

Most people enrol into their employer's default fund and never look at it again. We review what you are in, whether you are getting your full employer match, and whether the fund is right for your timeline.

ISA strategy

Cash ISA, Stocks and Shares ISA, Lifetime ISA - understanding which to use, in what order, and how they work alongside your pension. Straightforward decisions that compound over time.

First investments

Moving beyond a savings account. Understanding risk, diversification and how to build an investment strategy that matches your goals without taking more risk than you need to.

Protection from day one

Income protection and life cover are not just for older people. If your income stopped tomorrow, how long could you manage? A short review now prevents a much larger problem later.

Financial content is everywhere. Regulated advice is different.

Nearly half of young people in the UK use social media for financial guidance. Some of that content is useful. A significant proportion of it is not regulated, not personalised, and in some cases actively harmful.

A finfluencer telling you to put everything into a single asset class has no obligation to your financial wellbeing. A regulated financial adviser does. That legal and professional obligation is the difference between content and advice.

Aetas Wealth is FCA regulated. Our advisers are qualified. What we tell you is specific to your situation, not produced for an algorithm.

Questions we hear most often.

Is it worth getting financial advice in your 20s?

Yes - and the earlier the better. The single biggest advantage young professionals have is time. Starting a pension at 22 versus 32 can result in a fund that is more than double the size by retirement, even with identical contributions. A financial adviser helps you use that time advantage properly from the start.

What should I do with my first workplace pension?

Make sure you are enrolled and contributing at least enough to get your full employer match - that is free money you should not leave on the table. Then check the default fund your contributions are going into. Most default funds are designed to be inoffensive rather than optimal. A quick review with an adviser can make a significant difference over decades.

Should I prioritise an ISA or a pension?

Both serve different purposes. A pension benefits from upfront tax relief and employer contributions, making it highly efficient for long-term wealth building. An ISA is more flexible - you can access it at any time. For most young professionals, the right answer is to maximise the employer pension match first, then build an ISA alongside it.

I use apps like Monzo and Trading 212 - do I still need an adviser?

Apps are good for getting started. An adviser does something different: they look at your whole picture, make sure your pension, ISA, investments and protection are working together, and help you avoid the decisions that are hard to undo. The two work well alongside each other.
